With mental health support services in the community and hospital-based outpatient care, AWH supports clients with access to psychological therapies, trauma informed care, medicines management, care on improving physical health, occupational therapy and support for self-harm and substance use.

 

Services are provided in partnership with general partitioners, mental health clinicians as well as family and support networks.

Based in Wodonga, Benambra consists of four, 2-bed, self-contained units with 24-hour clinical support for clients aged 16 to 64.  Clients have their own single bedroom and share common facilities such as the kitchen, bathroom and lounge.Taking an individual recovery approach the program includes group participation, clinical support and community engagement with clients typically staying between three to six months.

Haven Wodonga provides people who have significant mental ill-health with long-term social housing and 24/7 support from on-site Mind Australia staff. This integrated social housing and support service is a partnership between Mind and community housing provider The Haven Foundation – a subsidiary of Mind.

 

Haven residences are high-quality housing with support for people with significant mental health and wellbeing concerns to find help, hope and purpose in their lives. They are a place for people with significant mental health and wellbeing concerns to live independently while receiving support from qualified mental health workers who help them to achieve their unique NDIS Plan goals. Residents learn life skills, like confidence and connection with others, to help build a healthy lifestyle. The Haven Foundation and Mind Australia model also promotes and supports the involvement of family, friends and carers.

Jarrah Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC) is a 10 bed, short stay, up to 28 days, residential accommodation for people aged 16 to 65 years, who are at risk of experiencing a relapse of a mental illness or, who are recovering from a period of mental ill health.  This early active intervention care is important to avert the need for inpatient services.

 

The Centre is focussed on recovery, rehabilitation and wellbeing with Allied Health Clinicians supporting people on their recovery journey, helping them focus on goal setting and positive life choices to enhance wellbeing.

The Kerferd Unit is a purpose built 20-bed facility, including provision for high level supervision, for adults aged 18 years and over who need the support of 24 hour inpatient assessment, diagnosis and treatment of an acute mental illness.

 

Support for clients is provided by a clinical team, including social workers, occupational therapists and psychologist, in consultation with a case manager and community mental health service.

Albury Wodonga Health’s Mental Health Service provides specialist clinical assessment, treatment and on-going care to people who have, or who are at risk of a serious mental illness or suicide. Across a range of disciplines they support people of all ages including people with co-occurring substance use problems. Person centred care is provided through a recovery focused model for both urgent and non-urgent cases.

 

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) has 10 specialty community based mental health services, plus three acute care services and three recovery and rehabilitation facilities as well as a service specialising in supporting families, where a parent has a mental illness and connecting people to carer consultants.

 

The Mental Health team comprises mental health clinicians with a background in nursing, occupational therapy, social work and psychologists, all of whom have experience in helping people through a range of therapies and medical treatment. Mental health conditions are often characterised by a disturbance of thought, mood, perception and behaviour which causes distress or difficulties. Mild or sever, mental illness can make your everyday routine challenging or seem impossible to deal with.  It is a good idea to seek help early if you, or someone you know, is facing mental health challenges.

The HOPE program provides intensive, person-centred support which is tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of the individual. Those eligible for the service will be contacted within 24-hours of hospital discharge, and support will continue for up to three months.
